What is causing odor problems in my black and grey tanks?

Odor problems are usually caused by the build-up of sludge, waste, and decomposing matter that is still in your RV’s holding tanks. Get rid of the sludge and you get rid of the odor. The use of enzymes and harsh chemicals only masks the problem and does not fix it.

And while you may think that your onboard black water flushing/rinsing system is doing a good job of clearing your tank, most black holding tanks we clean from owners who claim to be thorough in their use of the flush system still have large amounts of build-up in the tank. The flushing system just cannot beat the 1500PSI pressure that our equipment generates.

Gray tanks also suffer from odors, especially those tanks who’s gate valves are commonly left open. In these cases, liquid slowly seeps out, leaving decomposing and sticky solids behind. Yuck!

The only true way to eliminate odors in your holding tanks is to have regular, scheduled professional cleanings.
